o2 sensor

can i make a 4 wire o2 senser plug work on a one wire o2 sensor maybe just hook up one of the wires to it out of the four?

no the reason for thr 4 wires to to read diff. perameters and heating of the o2 sensor to work faster. one wire o2 only read fuel and oxygen levels based on a single scale

will it run ok just for short distances if i dont have one for a while

How short is your distance, and how long is a while?
Without your o2 sensor your truck will run in "closed loop" mode, where it will provide fuel based on the reading from the mass airflow sensor, but won't have anything to verify your a/f ratio by- this is what your o2 sensor is there for.
It will run, but if your ecu is pumping out more fuel than it should, you could ruin your catalytic converter (if you still have one), and run the risk of damage to the engine internals over a long period.
But short local trips for a week or so should be cool. Good luck!
