How do you keep dogs from digging

So my parents dog keeps digging up their yard and my mom is really upset. does anyone have any ideas how to keep dogs from digging in the dirt? we have tried like filling the planter with rocks and someone said that dogs hate tabasco/tapatio so we put that over there and the dog licked it up and loved it.

any ideas?

there is a special spray you can get from the pet store that is supposed to keep dogs from digging. it only worked with mine for a short time. another trick i read about was to find places where your dog likes to dig, put some of your dogs crap in the holes and cover it back up. when he goes back there to dig, he should find his crap and get turned off from digging there. i personally haven't tried the 2nd trick yet.

I've put my dog's shit in the holes she has dug and it seems to work pretty good.

I also made my own homemade liquid stuff to put on places they dig that seemed to work. I mixed up garlic powder and cayenne pepper in vegetable oil. Then pour it all around the places that were getting dug up. I figured the oil would help it from washing away. It also seemed to work well.

its a bit of work but laying chain link fence an inch or two underground solves the problem. That is if the dog is digging under a fence or wall of some sort.

i believe my grandfather put a shitload of strong ass pepper along the fence line to keep his dog from digging under the fence.

we put those little mouse traps in them and about the second or third time they stoped..if they ever did it again we would put it back and wouldnt even set them

I HAVE BEEN TOLD TO USE THE PEPPER TOO. MY PROBLEM IS CATS SHIT IN MY WIFES FLOWER BEDS. I WAS TOLD IF GET IN THERE NOSE AND KEEP THEM FOR COMING BACK. YOU CAN GET IT BY THE SHIT LOAD AT MOST DOLLAR STORES.

i shoveled tons of their own shit into the holes at my girlfriend's house one time.. worked for a while until the shit dissolved into the ground lol.. but by then you can add more
