tacoma check engine light and abs light

i just got a 99 tacoma extended cab with the v6. it sorta doesnt run good when i hit the gas it sorta bogs first most of the time. my question though is how do i check the codes for the check engine light and abs light?

I WOULD TAKE IT TO YOUR TOYOTA DEALER, A TECH THERE HAS TO HOOK IT UP TO THE SCAN TOOL, TO SEE WHAT THE CODES ARE

thanks but im not trying to get raped. theres a way to check it your self by jumping the service plug just need to know where its at. ill try some toyota forums.
