Starting an internet site

I know what name I want but where do I start and how do I go about getting a site up and going. I don't want anything fancy just a place where I can put up some pics, contact info, projects, general stuff like that.

a domain

a host

a web designer

domain name is the www.domainnamehere.com

host would be a company that puts your site on the web and hosts it for other peopole to see when they type in the www.yaddiyadda.com

the web designer creates and builds the site and makes it functional; with navigation and information.

Well first things first I need to register a domain name. I checked out Godaddy, any other places that I should look at first? Anybody with experience good or bad and where did you go to?

Stick with godaddy. they the best in my opinion. I first used register.com but transfered all my domains to godaddy.com and have never had any problems with them. As far as hosting goes, I am currently using yahoo but have also used hostway.com. hostway was a little to expensive when I started using them but have dropped their prices since to a very reasonable price. I'm actually considering going back to them. But also godaddy even has some real cheap prices but no experience with their hosting plans. If you need anymore help, I'd be glad to help ya. I haven't registered a domain in a few years but it normally takes a couple days before you can start viewing your domain name.

I made a webpage in one of my college classes thats pretty basic and can be changed around, its even got a login and stuff but I just found a free layout online and altered that to my liking. I know all the code pretty well so if you need help or want to take a look at mine let me know.

My hosting i use yahoo also. It's not that hard to start a website. I started my magazine one day with only one page and now look at it. I have grown after 4 years o fmy magazine to 14 people on my staff and have my own web person that does my stuff for me and everything.

I use addaction.net for my domain and hosting. Never any problems.. cheap too.

I use GoDaddy. They have awesome customer service, and the price is good.
