ok I am asking this for a friend of mine, he has a Buick Roadmaster Estate with the simulated wood on the side for those who dont know... Anyway he is wondering is there anywhere to buy that stuff at? He is getting ready to start shaving the car but wants to put that stuff back on after its shaved. Someone told him to go to like Lowes or Home Depot but we were wondering if anything there would be good enough for on a car? I know someone on here has to know where to buy that stuff at It would be cool to airbrush it on but he doesnt have that kinda money to do that.. Any help will be greatly appreciated... Thanks in advance__________________
talk to a local place that builds cabinets and counter tops. u could use a laminate because that is what i am assuming you are wanting. i run the office for our cabinet shop so i know we get laminate all the time. so my best guess is to find out where and how you will get it to stick.
Maybe look at a graphic/vinyl sign maker. Maybe they can make it in different grains and colors. Thought about doing that myself, I love roadmaster wagons.
Kyles idea sounds the best. Plus like he said if a vinyl shop can do it he will have the possibility of getting something unique. The stuff you would get at Lowes or Home Depot probably wouldn't hold up very well. I work at a GM dealership and from what I have been told we can't even get it anymore.
There is a guy in Denton that does some prety crazy vinyl decal work. He did a few Lowriders with crazy graphics. His website is www.supersignguy.com. Owners name is Ernie.
And by the way Brian, when are you gonna bring your ass out to my shop?
hell I dont know maybe soon.. I have only been out there one time. I dont know if I can even remember where to go.. hhaha when you gonna come to Burleson?
Find a wood specialty shop/store in your area and get wood veneer from them. Its thin sheets of real wood and you can get just about anything you want from oak to exotic woods like cherry or mahogany
I put a strip of the homedepot wood on the side of my welder with the intention of seeing how well it held up.I don't think the stock wood is any stronger.there both some form of vinyl and will scratch like any sticker. At worst it should look good for a few years and thats longer than most peoples attention span.
