the update on my truck. i had a buddy boost me off and went to advanced. well the one that could check it was on lunch so i didnt have time to wait. i truned it off. needless to say he wouldnt start back til I boosted it again. i truned the air off and rode home with the windows down. got home and turned it off and then it started right back. went back 2 hours ago and it started again. its running like normal. Is there a chance the A/C could have something to do with it not charging. The battery has alot of acid around the terminals. i did the screw driver on top of the altenator. it worked good. i think it could either be the batter or the terminals. i pored pepsi on them to get the acid off.. anyone have any other ideas. i'd hate to spend money and it not be right.

if your clutch on your AC is stopping the belt, then you wouldn't be charging the system.

start the truck let it run, turn on the AC and watch the belt. It would probably be showing high engine temp too because the water pump wouldn't be spinning. just the crank would spin inside the belt if the clutch was holding the belt.

something to check.

thats not what it was. the belt is spinning fine. it aint died in 2 days but the voltmeter gets way below 14. whats the lowest it can go and still be ok.

13.7 volts.

anything under that and you're not charging.

you need an alternator. go buy one. buy a battery too, and call it all good.

voltage problem that comes and goes. works fine one minute and wont work the next. sounds like the infamous GM side post battery terminals. they will often get some corrosion or terminals will become a little loose. just the slightest vibration can be enough to cause the wire terminals to not have good contact with the battery. worse case, the actual side post terminal can lose contact with the battery internals, then you'd have to replace the battery. there are numerous TSB's about GM side post battery terminals to read for more info.
