tail light swap ideas

so, ive got an 89 dodge ramcharger. i kinda wanna update to some more modern tail lights. i could do custom, but i like the look of modded in stocks. ive thought about a few different ones, colorado, 02+ ram, 2nd gen blazer.

well, i snagged a used 05 ram unit to hold up to the truck at home, bit too tall to fit between the bodylines. so, anybody know if the blazers or colorados are shorter? or have other ideas? here is a shot of how the back looks.

shitty pic, and its been dropped since that shot but it shows the bodylines im trying to stay between.

also, i realized id have to recurve the area above and below and blend the curves out to make it look right. sorta like the dude had to do with the 84-88 yota w/ rover tails. and i plan to move the lowest area of the 1/4 out to be a smooth fluid line, not an s-curve in. sorta like the 73-87 gms are.

this might not work but how about some older ford ranger tail lamps 82-9? or even some older s-10 tail lamps.some of the newer cadilacs have a large 3rd brake light across the truck lid you could french them into the hatch cover or the tailgate and fill in the factory one.or an old stanby is get one of those line of fire led strips and put under the tail gate and fill inthe factory holes.i think hi-tech led makes some cool smaller led's you could put anywre along the back.

try range rovers?

ive thought about rovers too. kinda wanna not narrow the gate. or shave the stocks. blazers will probably be my next idea to get details on. anybody got a height measurement on those?

i think older taillights look pretty freakin sweet, 38 dodge, any of the old fords, personally i went with the 59 caddy tails:

i usually like flush mount led's but i know thats not what your looking for, but as far as using a stock pair from a different vehicle, Jumbo's have always been my favorite! see i do say nice things about you every once in a while Jumbo!

ha, yeah they look good. i thought above rovers too. might go with some old school impalas, like 64/65. buddy is a lowrider guy.
