im wonderin wat you guys r doin to take your heavy cabs off. i have c10 cab that im swappin and i have no access to a klift or a forklift. wat ways can you get it off with out messi the body up or yourself. any help would be nice.
chains off the rafters, then run straps through the cab to the chains. ive heard of people doing that. straps shouldnt hurt the cab. or try a camper jack at each corner then roll the frame out. or lift one side (front/back) and slid a 2x4 box tube under. then put those on sawhorses.
other than buying a bunch of beer and steaks to have friends come over and help you. use four jacks and lift from the pinch weld up then use jack stands to hold so you can do like ^^^^Joe^^^^ said and get some wood under neath and then support the wood that is acting like a cross member with somethin sturdy while you roll your frame out. cause not all of us have a sturdy over hang to use ropes and pulleys.
im hopin to build something to lift my 4 runner,2 A frames connected in the middle with a beam, and hang a come along from the beam.i used jacks and blocks to slide the frame out,was a pain in the ass tho.
I figured get the cab ready to come off jack the frame and cab up together as high as you can, then just put jack stands under the cab and roll the frame out from under it? I've never tried it but it sounds good in theory.....?
I just lifted mine off over the week end with some eye bolts screwed in to the seatbelt bolt holes and used my cherry picker and I've done it with crew cabs also
