what sort of temps are you allowing it to flash in was it in a booth or at home the temp and humidity will play a large roll in the efficency of the drying period. also you may want to look into how you cut the primer or the way it was sprayed or maybe adjust your gun or you might need another air dryer to keep moisture out of the paint from your compressure

sounds like your mix ratio got messed up. also sounds like not enough hardener was mixed. check your ratios before you spray again and do not spray when a lot of humidity is present

if i let it sit for 1 week under the sun will it cure?can i paint over it nowi mean it doesnt clog the paper .and it does not wrinkle when i put a wet rag of reducer on it.. i think my ploblem was that i put it on too thick

i would let it cure for a while in the sun just to be safe, but it sounds like it will be OK, tha last thing you would want though is to spray a nice PJ on it, and have it solvent pop all over the place.

WELL MAY BE YOU GRABED THE WRONG HARDNER FOR THE EPOXY PRIMER? BOTH ARE TOTALLY DIFFERNT, JUST CAUSE IT SAYS EPOXT PRIMER DOESNT MEAN THAT IT WILL WORK WITH REGUALR PRIMER HARDNER. IS IT THE SAME COLOR LABEL? I MADE THAT MISTAKE ONCE AND USED THE EPOXY HARDNER FOR REGULAR PRIMER AND IT WAS ALWAYS SOFT,I WOULD SUGGEST TAKE A RAG OF THINNER AND WIPE IT OFF.IF THATS THE CASE.IF IT DOESNT DRI IN THE TIME IT SUPPOEST TO BE THEN PUTING IT OUT THE SUN IS JUST A QUICK FIX, IT MIGHT BE DRI ON TOP BUT THE BOTTOM WILL STILL BE SOFT.

did you use the same brand primers?

i have ppg dplf epoxy. it says you have to let it sit for 30 minutes after mixing as an induction period, it can be top coated after 60 min with 1 coat, 90 with 2 coats. you can top coat for a week after spraying without sanding, so i usually wait 24 hrs to make sure all the solvents have evaporated out, unless i'm using it as a sealer. it sounds like the heavy coats of primer on top trapped the bottom solvents in. i would try to sand some of the top primer off(to open up some pores for the epoxy to try to cure), let it sit for a little see if the epoxy dries, if not strip it. sucks, but next time give epoxy more time to dry before coating it.

you may want to look for a direct to metal 2k primer too to avoid having to epoxy coat.

good luck

That was my first thought, it almost sounds as though your epoxy didnt crosslink properly, and is now re flowing. Regardless, I'd be sketchy about painting over it, if you had issues. Once theres colour on there, its a bitch to go back and touch up.

is it normal yes and it sux when you mix these 2 select products. i had this happen to me as well , what happened is you had a chemical reaction, when you sprayed epoxy you should have let that sit at least 4 hours and then shoot your 2K over that, when you shoot 2K over epoxy that is still technically wet after an hour the chemicals in the 2K fight the others in the epoxy and your end result is crap to say the least, in my professional opinion for a quality job i'd take all the stuff off and re-shoot it but wait longer times between step 2 good luch cheef
