Again Adobe Illustrator not Photoshop but I always enjoy comments and critiques let me know what you like and don't its the only way I improve.

I really need to learn illustrator. You have any good recommendations for learning it?

start playing with it. open an image, use the color picker to match the color, get the pen tool and start copying the shapes, soon enough you will have a good idea of how to see the lines, lights, and shadows, etc. eventually you will be able to start getting your own style, time+more time=getting good.

Yep that's the best way. Illustrator is all about using the pen tool and learning how to control the lines. Just keep at it you will always be learning. I have been drawing in illustrator for 10 years and can still manage to learn new tricks. As for my illustrator work its all mouse no tablet.
