I am going to have my axle in the rear shortened to tuck some billets. How much is everyone getting cut off? I want to go with a 22x8.5" billet wheel with some sort of cool deep lip? Any help would be great with measurements!! I have read that a lot of you guys took yours to Mosier Engineering in Indiana, how much am I looking at to do that, is shipping on that pretty costly?

Most guys Ive seen took like 4 to 6"s out...I've got 20x8.5s and Im gonna take about 7 to get mine to tuck...as far as Mosier for cuttin the housing down I got mixed responses...some ppl told me they would do it and a Mosier rep. said the wouldnt so u might wanna talk to a few different ppl...just my 2 cents...hope this helps ya out

i'd get wheels first, then measure, relying on what other people have done is going to have you ending up with having your rear end narrowed twice!

Yea...thats wat I done I got my wheels then measured to see wat i need to get them inside the fender wells....Cris you wouldnt happen to have some control arms layin around? ...

On dakotas the pumpkin is not centered on the rear end, which in turn means that one axle shaft is shorter. When we shortened a rear end we used the shorter axle on the oppisite side and only had to get one axle shaft built which saved us 150-200 hundred dollars. And the wheels that are on the truck tuck in the front without a problem and the backs are actually too far in(same offset/not custom offset). Im sorry I cant remember the difference in lengths though. Each rear wheel is about 2-3 inches from the inside rear lip. To narrow. I cant post pics because Im retarded but you can find pics on our website, Charactersclub.com

Ok thanks for all the insights, now what size wheel should I start off with, I want to do a 22x8.5" six lug for the dakota, but what should I get on the offset? I want to have a pretty cool looking lip, and then any suggestions on the linkage for the back? I dont want to shorten the axle anymore than I have to with a wheel offset, just basically looking to tuck and have a good lookin lip. I am looking for something to ride pretty good currently I have an air bar on it, but I am looking to go lower with a notch and new setup. THANKS
