Alright guys, I'm thinking about rebuilding the motor in my B2200. I'm wanting to keep it stock internally except for a cam. I'm looking for opinions as to what combonation of cam, header, carb, and ignition parts to go with. What Webber carb would be the best for this set up? Thanks.

I wouldn't even bother with a cam until you atleast had a weber and full exhaust on there and for the money, you would be happier with the acceleration if you put a lightweight flywheel in there as long as you arn't hauling anything more than 500-600 lbs.

where can you get the lightweight flywheels at and will it fit a B2200 FI motor too...

have you ever heard the expression "you cant polish a turd?" it is rumored that the guy who said it tried to make a mazda fast.

You can buy lots of expensive parts. But starting with 86hp, even if you double it (VERY unlikely) you are still under 200 and have spent thousands.

A better option is to swap in a Kia Sportage motor with fuel injection. It is a 2 liter mazda block so it bolts in and bolt up to the stock trans. It has 140 hp stock. And upgrade from there, Jim (madlowmazda on here) tells us that a miata header will fit, and if you get Japanese FE3 cams you will be closer to 160. All in all a much more reliable engine than a bored and stroked truck motor with a huge carb.

And I love mazdas, so dont think I am knocking them. But I would rather just cruise than be fast stoplight to stoplight.

Ok I will check that out, but my B2200 is FI and can I get anything for it as perf. parts or go Kia...

if you did the kia you would already have the high pressure fuel pump and lines.

They dont make anything for the EFI 2.2. You can adapt an intake if you like, but thats about it.

No, I wasn't wanting to do outragous power adders. I was just wanting to have the motor rebuilt to stock specs. I was just wondering what combo goes together best with the three (cam, header, carb). I have no idea what carb to run at all.

lets see, pacesetter makes a header for the truck. not sure about a cam, but i belive russ does, and as far as the carb goes, ive heard the 32/36 weber works well. the 38/38 is way too big though. i thought ive read somewhere that solex makes a 34/34 and that would be a good choice too.

does anyone know about a supercharger for that little motor???????
