so the other day i go to start the dailydriver.. it starts and idles like crap. last time i had oil changed they said i needed a new fuel filter.. so i remembered that and bought one, swapped it out. still same thing. not being in the mood for this i take it down to autozone to have them hook it up to their scanner. it said i was having a misfire in cylinder #1 and #5, question is what would be the quickest way to fix this? any suggestions?

Swap those coil packs out with 2 others cylinders and see if it is in fact the coil packs, or if you have another problem. If its the coil packs replace them, rpmoutlet.com has the motoblue coil packs for 24.95 each, whice is the cheapest I have found them

swapped em around.. recoded it found its still missfiring on the same 2 cylinders

Same thing happened to my 01 supercrew, showed #8 cylinder misfire, swapped it to #1 and reset the computer and then it showed #1 misfire, replaced the coil pack and it was good to go. If it still shows a misfire than I would check the plugs and wires.

it has just under 60k miles. i checked for spark.. had that. tried the reset the computer.. its still misfiring but the service engine light went away. for now. think im just gonna take it somewhere. i dont have the money to be guessing and buying parts at the moment.

my 2000 4.2 is doing the same thing. it said cylinder #2 is misfiring. motor only has about 45,000 miles and the plugs and coil have already been replaced once. so i'm clueless. taking it tomorrow to someone who knows more about it.

The 4.6, 5.4, and the V-10 are notorious for blowing plugs out of the cylinder, pull the coil pack and smell the wire, if it smells like exhaust, the plug might be stripped. Go to F150online.com and search blown plugs and you will find alot of good info on this topic. If the plug is loose DON'T put a Autozone helicoil in it. There is a company called TimeSert that makes the only Ford approved fix to this problem.

well heres the list of things ive done1. changed fuel filter2. getting codes p0301& p0305 (#1 and 5 misfiring)took it to dealer since i didnt have time to fix. they tell me oh its bad coil on #4, wanted to charger 800+ to switch #4 coil. the other 7 boots on the existing coils and all 8 plugs... yea. right. i took it home4. bought 1 new cop. replaced it in the #4 position, changed all 8 plugs under a hundred dollars. same problem as before it went to dealer.5. searched on ford chats, decided to swap out all 8 coil packs, did that.. ran a little smoother but still running rough.. 6. throwing code p0113 iat sensor.. i accidentally left that unplugged on the intake tube.. oops. plugged it back in.7. battery is dead from me working on it once a week since i now have a company vehicle. replaced battery which reset the previous code.8. still runs like its not getting all the fuel it should be. im stumped, dont know what to do next.if this stupid truck ran right i couldve towed my toyota to reso...which really pissed me off cause of the amount of work i did in the few months prior to get it ready.
