toyota pickup idle problem

Hi I have a 1991 toyota pickup 22re 5-speed.It will idle high till it's warm. Y does it does this.Thanks Royce

how high is high, because they're supposed to do that unless it's excessive. it's called the high idle kick down.

All my toyotas have always done it also. how high does it go up to and how far does it go down after its warm.

The IAC, is what controls idle at cold start & once at running tep. I just went through this. I had changed the valve because would not idle when cold, then when hot would idle high(1800),should be 850-950! Found a broken wire at the connection! Also the dash pot , TPS, & throttle stop screw &air by pass screw should be checked.Also timing!!

Oh yeah, also check for any vacuum leaks!!

I have a '89 with the same engine and trans combo and it does the same thing for about 2 minutes or so. I thought it was wierd too but I dont care anymore. =)
