I need to do some fiberglass modifications to my dash. I'm wanting to put the grain back into the dash. Does anybody have any ideas on how to do this.Thanks.

you can do it with wrinkle texture paint. It can be tricky though, you have to use a heat gun

SEM makes a texture spray. you can get it in a spray can or for a gun. Depending on the type of texture, it can match pretty well. You can create different textures by spraying different so a little practice helps

SEM texture paint works great I've found that if you hold the can several feet away, and make many passes untill the entire surface is nearly all black, It looks close to stock texture.

where can you get SEM texture at?? i really don't like that wrinkle paint that much

any automotive paint store the carries the SEM line. also in some caes you may need to sand the texture after. I usualy spray it with an SEM color after. For blacks their Landau Black has just the right shine to it.Here is one I did.

it was an empty area in a Chevy dash------

now - compair the texture to the stock AC vent texture

You can get regraining kits that have sheets of grain pattern in reverse... you spray down the base, then lay the sheet into it...pull it back up and let it dry... it dries soft and you just colour dye it to match. I can for the life of me remember the name right now though...
