ok we have an 89 s10 blazer and about to put a cali combo on it. anyway it has a power back glass that you have to pop. How does all that work if we are just using the skin and building a frame for it to sit up against? anyone have any pictures or Ideas?? any help is appreciated and thanks in advance.

With mine I stripped the stock tailgate skin off then welded the inner structure in place so the latch location and mounting for the glass popper is the same. Then I just built a new inside panel to cover up the stock inner structure but put an access hole in it in case I need to change the popper or adjust the latch.

thats the problem though, neither of us have the time to pull the old skin off and put the new one on.. He wants to build a frame and put the skin on to that and figure out a way to still have the latch and all that.. is this possible? I mean yeah anything is possible but has anyone done it?

All you need to do is cut the old one around the edges. It would take longer to build a frame.
