The guy that built my truck where he placed the shocks it keeps f*cking up the bushings. Is it better for your shocks to be at an angle or straight up and down.

The only good way to mount a shock is straight. right next to the bag. if they are angle it will ruin the bushing and blow out the shock. on my yota their mounted at an angle upside down.So i ripped those out and dont even run front shocks anymore.

you want your shocks mounted no more then 40* angled.. also make sure your eye lets are mounted in a way that while it moves, you doesnt bind.. i.e. you mount shocks on your link bar, but they get pulled to the side of the truck.. that will break them.

if they are going through bushings and breaking, they are binding. you can lean them no problems, just do it right.

also in the rear, your shocks dont have to be next to the bag. but if you have a lever setup and you lever shocks, remember it softens them too. so get stiffer shocks.

take a look at pretty much every stock truck on the road, their rear shocks are angled...

Leaning them gives your more travel as well. You can take a 8 inch shock and get 16" of travel by leaning them on a 45* angle. You would have to adjust the valving to compensate for the angle though. I have had mine mounted like this for years without any problems.
