I have a 94 bumper on my 86. I used brackets from Alter Image customs(Can Do Specialties now).

It fits pretty well with Steves brackets. They are not really complicated to build...if you can cut and weld. Mine had to have some trimming for the bolt holes to line up, but nothing major. If you can not cut your factories and weld them to bumper side of the ranger brackets, I would highly recomend seeing if Can do still makes them....I think FBI may have sold the brackets as well( if they have any old stock, they might be cheap )

There is no reason you couldn't mod the two sets of factory brackets together though....if I remember correctly.

There is a small gap under the grille that I will probably make a filler panel for, and the bumper is a liitle wider at the front edges of the fender opening also. did not match as well with 2wd sheet metal, but looks great with my 4x4 front fenders.
