shift linkage on transmission

i have a 350 turbo transmission. there is play in the gear stuff on the transmission and the nut on the outside is tight. why is it still have play in it.Does it have a nut on the inside?

if anyone can help e please give me some info on that cause i have no i dea why this is happening.thanks

i think there is supposed to be a nylon bushing where the shift lever hooks to the linkage

yeah but im talkin about the bent part from the tranny that is shaped like a c.it has play in that part. like right from the tranny with out the linkage on.
