I am in need of a 2000 4x4 tacoma grill & Bumper shell and dont really care to drop $700 for them from the dealership, but at the same time I want quality chrome that will last for a while without fading and chipping easy. Do any of you run aftermarket shells?...if so how is the chrome and what company would you recomend if I decide to go that route? thanks

In my experience (I've seen a TON of bumpers and grilles come through here!), aftermarket plastic parts tend to have really nice chrome- as good as the factory, and in some cases you can get them in all chrome instead of chrome/ black.
Bumpers, however, are another story. The chrome is fine in most cases, but the prep that goes into the raw bumper is key. I've seen them with huge gouges that have been chromed over, pitting due to oil or other contamination... it's really hit or miss.
I would recommend ordering your bumper through the dealer if you're looking for the highest quality part. But make sure you open and inspect it at the dealership when you pick it up, because Toyota uses aftermarket companies for their "phased out" models like your Taco.
But save money and buy the grille from us or someone else that carries it!
