I have a 2000 Dodge Ram that has a sliding back glass and I want to replace it with a solid back glass that I have on another truck.

How hard is it to remove the back window? Is there any special tools that I need to use? It has a few tabs and then it is sealed with silicon. I talked to the local glass shop about doing it but they couldn't guarentee they wouldnt break it.

Any ideas? Thanks!

I had a couple of glass shop say the same thing when they did mine. Every thing worked out for me though

do not use regular silicon cause it will eventually rust out the metal around it or so im told. you have to use a urethane(sp?) type sealer

yea i work for safelite autoglass... dont use regular silicone... it will corrode your pinchweld... we use a special eurethane to hold it in... the dodge truck backglass in my opinion is a pain in the ass most of the time... you have to consider my enviroment.. i work with broken glass so basically i get to rip the glass out and cut it out however i need to and its still a pain... its gunna be a chore for you to attempt it yourself for sure.... i would recomend getting a class company to do it. .. oooooooooooooooorrrr come over for some dinner, bring some beer and im sure i can get it out!

It's not bad, just takes time. The easy way is to remove the headliner & the trim on the sides. Go to a parts store and buy a cold knife around $8.00 it should come with a blade 3/4inch. Then go to a auto glass shop for a 1.50inch blade.Just cut from inside you can do it .Call if you need more info Jeremy (405)-6401289

Thanks for the info! I talked to the local glass shop again and they basically told me everything that was said already. They said I could borrow the tools and anything that I need to do it myself. Both trucks have easy access to the back window so I hope it will work out.

Just to be on the safe side. Does anyone know for a fact if you can swap the 94 back window with a 2000 model? The only real difference I see is the outside molding other than that it "should" fit. Just thought I would check

Thanks!
