HI there I am Pat,this is my situation there is no shop around here for minitruckers in my province and I have the first bag toyota in the province of Quebec. We are so much behind around in minitruckin, people dont realy have a clue what 's minitruckin. My toyota is 1990 extracab , I have belltech drop spindles and cando a-arms on it .If I change my crossmember and take the small bar under the tranny the truck will be laying frame .But I am not sure about that one.So here come my other question do I realy have to z the frame of it to make my body drop?

I was planning on channeling the floor and drop my cab mount to do it .Since there is no shop for minitruckers in province I have to do it myslef so all your help would be greatly appreciated and picutres too.

you dont have to z the frame but its not gonna lay flat in the front. if you want your whole trucks frame to be flat you will need to. some people just make up for it w/ a crooked body drop. Minitruckin' mag just did a article on a standard cab yota being chaneled.

crooked bodydrop = being lazy.. do it right the first time

Pat I thought I explained this already. haha.

You need to Z the frame to lay flat frame. You cant just raise the front crossmember. If you go that route you will also need to raise the lower control arms and then raise the uppers and modify the steering to keep all the geometry the same. You may also run into some oil pan clearance issues before you can get the crossmember high enough. The Z is a much easier solution.

if you take the lazy way out your cab will be level with the frame in the back and lower than the frame up front. Crooked bodydrops are lame. Lay it flat first and then do the BD.

ok , because I am not sure how to do z frame .I saw the arcticle in minitruckin and truckin for the channeling .
I did not understand the difference to do it or not .
Was there an article on how to z the frame in minitruckin ?
Thank's Joel ,it's so new to me building a mini.

Zing the frame is pretty straight forward. You are basically cutting your front frame clip off at the firewall, then raising it so that the lowest part is level with the bottom of the frame under the cab, and then welding it back together and plate it up for strength. You will have to drop the frame horns down the amount of the Z plus the amount of the bodydrop so that the front sheetmetal lines back up.

I believe the truck in Minitruckin that was chanelled is not Z'd. If you look at the FEB 07 issue it shows how they did it the other way by raising the engin crossmember and upper control arms. However they didnt address the steering and oil pan issues. The Z is probably the simplest was to do it. You will have to do some mods to the steering linkage as well once its all said and done. Its definitely not something to go into blind.
