I love my woodstove. I heat my entire house with it. Basement and one level above the basement. I have electric heat in the house too but very rarely ever turn it on. Keeping your duct work or in my case chimney clean and being careful not to burn a lot of the soft woods like pine is key to keeping the ducts clean. You can burn pine, it makes excellent kindling to get the fire started but its best to switch over to hard woods after you get the fire going.

We use pallets to get started.

U have to buy the pipe so the smoke goes outside. we have one in my dads basement and its a 32 by 50 and it heats it up nie. push come to shove u can cook on it to. u should be able to get the pipe at any hardware store.

i just installed one in my garage they are a very nice thing to have... 9 times out of 10 you can get wood for free. Just be super careful while running the pipe as if its to close to stuff it will catch things on fire. I recommend using class a triple wall stainless for anywhere it passes through a combustible material (ie. wood rafters ceiling instalation etc)

I just built a chimney for a woodstove for one of my buddies. It went about 16 ft high and I think he said he had around 300 bucks in materials and it took me about three or four hours to lay it. We used clay flues and concrete flue block.
