my friend just bought a s10 and the dude said he put a new tranny in it and it looks clean and new or newer. but you have to force it hard to get it into gear. some times it is cool others it wont go in for shit. and everytime you put it into reverse it grinds hard or makes a loud clunk noise. he said he took it to a tranny shop and they said it was the clutch. but i dont think so cause it doesnt slip. any ideas? its a 95 manual tranny.

IT COULD BE THE CLUTCH NOT DISINGAING ALL THE WAY. IF NOT IT COULD BE THE SINCROS, ALSO CHECK FLUID LEVEL IN IT.

i think those trans in the 4.3 trucks are worthless atleast the ones in the 95 models

my truck was originaly a 4.3 manual trans now its a 4.3 auto with the older noncomputerized trans. when i bought the truck used the salesman was a good guy and said if you want the truck get the waranty that covers the trans so i did and it went out, the first week but seamed good at the time. they fixed it and they spent about 2,500 on it. i drove it for a while bagged the truck and noticed then the slave cylender was on the passenger lower part of the truck. then one day is started not wanting to go in gear then it got stuck in 3rd gear. same problem as before. so i think those trans suck and i swaped mine out for the auto trans and had more ground clearance alot more.

its a 4 banger. so wrong or no fluid will cause it to not go in gear? fluid is good for the clutch master cylinder. i was also thinking its not disingaging too but can the pedal be adjusted?

if its a 4.3 engine cant u swap it out for a 350 trans auto???? if i remember correctly that is what i was told

yeah mine trans is the same that come with the v8s. the 4.3 is basicaly a 350 minus 2 cylenders
