Rear diff change!!!

Hi Max! i wanna know the best way to convert my 6 lug rear end for a 5 lug rear end in a 1970 c10? do i get a newer rear diff or can i swap all the inner parts? whats the cheapest and most reliable way?? How do i measure it from outside to outside of the drums or the inside?? Thanx for any help!!!

cheapest way is to go pickup a 2wd rear end from a 73-98 fullsize.

man why do people post general automotive questions in the ask max forum? there are alot of capable people on here to answer questions like this...

but to help answer your question, does the truck have the stock suspension? if you are planning on installing your own 4 link you could just find any other gm rear end and stick in it with the lug pattern you want... if you want something to bolt to the stock stuff, you can find rear ends out of those year trucks with 5 lug....

No sir! it will not have stock suspenion anything!!I pretty much knew that about finding a rear end from those year trucks,i was unsure about the width of the whole thing!! thanx
