I was bored and day dreaming about the Dak like I always do and I was wondering what you guys thought about routing some of those Gibson sport tips (The Dual Square ones) through each side of my trucks body.

I already have the split rear exhaust, but I would just have some new pipes bent up and I will cut a whole in the body, I am thinking near the very back end after the rear wheel.

First question would be will these tips get too hot and screw up my paint?

Second if and when I get my truck bagged will the pipes interfere with the suspension?

If so would routing the tips to come through the body before the rear tire right after the cab solve this issue?

Third if this will work do you think it would look good or bad?

I was contemplating the Gibson sport tips or possibly "frenching" so to speak an angle cut tip on each side. I still haven

I personally dont think that mod looks good. Most people shave the holes and annoying crap off their trucks and you wanna put holes in it. But hey its your truck and if you wanna do that, go for it. As far as the suspension goes; go ahead and plan out your rear set-up and kinda give your self a little extra room. If you do have issues with it just redo it...its only exhuast pipe. good luck man

I have seen a few trucks with this done and they always have paint chips around the holes from the exhause movin around and the heat makes the paint chip off...

I have my Cutlass setup for pipes coming out the bottoms of the quarters in front of the wheels. I am solid mounting the exhaust tips and using flex to attach the tips to the rest of the exhaust to avoid it flopping around and chipping paint. Thats my fix for avoiding damage. Still not sure what the heat will do to the paint either though?

Nice Truck Gary. Where did you put your fuel cell? or do you still have the stock tank?

I think it looks good when the exaust is dumped in the rear wheel well,....with the tip just before the tires.....good luck with the mod either way......keep us posted

I have my 3" exiting just in front or the rear wheel kind of race car style...sounds mean as hell too with the turbo. It gets a little carbon on the paint but not as bad as I thought it would, easy enough to clean anyway. To stop any chips in case the exhaust ever moved, which it barely does, I ran some rubber edging trim around the hole which gives it a more finished look.
