I have two relays hooked up both independent power sources but they share the same negative trigger. I am having problems with them melting on the power to the compressors side. Each one is set up for a viar 480 and I am using 10g power wire on the power and grounds. Any ideas or more info that could help?

are they the 30 amp relays? They arent rated quite enough to hande the amperage draw. especially over time. I have started using the stinger 80 amp and the 150 amp relays. Wont ever have to worry bout them melting

Yeah they are the 40amps that came with the comps

use solenoids instead. relays SHOULD NOT be used in the hot side of a compressor. i always use the relay to turn the pressure switch on or off.

you may want to use bigger than 10ga wire, the smaller the wire, the more current has to flow to keep everything running. 10ga isn't very big at all for 30/40amps, especially if it's running a long distance.
