You should be fine with running plastic line after the water trap.
The point of the braided line is to help dissipate the heat from the head of the compressor- regular plastic line won't hold up to that heat over time.
But by the time the air reaches past the water trap, it's usually cooled enough that the plastic line will hold up for you.
However, the water trap should really be farther down the line than right after the leader hose, to allow for the water to separate better out of the air. Just a suggestion!
