Here in Orlando we have a insurance salvage auto auction were junk yards from all over the U.S come and buy salvage cars and trucks and also buy ones that are beyond being salvaged ones that are truly junk. Maby look around on the net and see if you can go to the auction or see what kind of credentials you need to be able to buy at the auction.

4 door s10s are hard to come by...at least around here..

find a sal. yard that sells mostly to dealers, and try them..worked for me, just not what i wanted to pay..

some junkyards do sell whole cars but then you need a title. try to find an auction, http://www.iaai.com/ they have public auctions here now and thats where alot of the junkyards here get their cars. also if you know your insurance agent fairly well ask him/her they sometimes have insight on buying before they even hit the auction.

I browse copart.com, but I have a friend with a rebuilder license and a membership. There was a flooded 4 door on there last year when I was trying to find a direction for my own s10 project, it sold for 4500 complete. That sounds like a lot compared to the 3k you want to spend, but actually with full interior, complete drivetrain, wheels and everything, you probably could part out the frame and drivetrain and sell that short be and walk away for less than 2k having the cab and interior.

copart is cool but you need an account. i see s10s go for 350-1200 if you only need the cab.3-5k will but you something that will drive right off the lot. my account got suspended cause other people used it and they didnt pick up a few cars. try to look up local insurance auctions. most dont require anything special but copart needs a dismantlers liscence

copart is one of the biggest. LKQ sells used parts, and may even sell whole vehicles. Just be careful with buying flood vehicles. I bought a flood dakota a while back to use for parts. Every single wire under the dash was solid rust, all the plugs were corroded, fuse panels were destroyed. They do a great job cleaning up those flood cars before auction, but make sure and look under the dash for abnormal rust.
