i bought my 89 toy from a guy who bodydropped the cab, did a majority of the four link and installed the front bags and brackets. i have boxes of parts and i noticed a pair of strut bars laying there. will they bolt back into the stock location or do i relocate them? i honestly haven't touched the front end yet because i have been working on the four link and bed.i plan on going through the front end this weekend.i've also got a box of cando shock relocators that he gave me which i still have to install. if anybody has pics please post'em. thanks.

yes they will back after you cut them for the body drop. Also test fit your radiator, driver side outlet is really close to the strut bars.

toss em and triangluate your lowers

the original brackets are totally gone so i'll obviously have to make new ones.what thickness steel should i use?i plan on using gussets also. it will be close to the radiator neck(i have a flex-a-lite radiator too)

You can do it the way Bobby does his on trucks, and shorten them and make new brackets away from the radiator. Looks like he used 1/2" x 2" strap and mounted the stock brackets to it. You could do the same thing, and find stock brackets, or just make new ones. Its simply a plate with a 1" hole and some gussets.

Or you can do like Skip said and triangulate the stock lowers.

Either way will work just as well as the other.

can we sticky this? I know it sounds like a small issue but it just so happened i was looking for the same tech article to figure out how to lay my 20s and where to put the sway bars.

now when you triangulate the lowers is it important to line up the pivot points of the control arm and the rod end like they did on ernies mitsu.....?? so i would have to make tabs that leaned back toward the inside of the frame to line them up...?? anyone get what i am sayin...hahah.

Very important. Otherwise the bushings will bind. I have a jig set up to align them. But yeah, the tabs will be angled back and away from the frame.
