I have a 99 ranger that also has a canister and I am about to do a fuel cell. Part of the line thats runs to the canister runs to the front what do you do with them in this case. O by the way my truck already has a gas smell in the garage on hot days and it is a flex fuel motor?

well i know a bigger motor swap would work but i wanna keep the four banger so i can drive to egypt and back on little fuel lol

all that stuff on the passenger fender can go IF you buy a weber carb. If you use the factory carb, that is all related to the feedback system and cant be (easily) eliminated. If you buy a header you can get rid of the EGR (the tubes running from the exh manifold to the air cleaner) too.

you cant do it to the newer trucks, or at least I dont know how to. I think the ford fuel pressure is weird on those flex fuel motors, I wouldnt change a thing without a lot of research.

Not sure if this helps any and it has been about 11 years since I did this so bear with me...What I did was buy a fuel cell that was a gallon bigger and had a height in inches that was close to the inside height of my factory tank. Then all I had to do was unbolt the sending unit from the top of the factory tank and after cutting a hole in the fuel cell that matched the size of the sending unit just bolt it in and voila! I could use my factory gauge and due to the extra gallon I never have to worry about running out of gas. Here is a pic of how mine looks. (see below) BTW be very careful on the hoses even though I was sure my freind and I had marked them carefully somehow I got my return line hooked up to my charcoal canister and my truck would puke about a gallon of gas out the canister everytime I shut it off!

you dont need a trip to the junkyard, there are THREE SIZES of hardline under the truck.

BIG goes to the carb from the tank pickup.

MIDDLE goes to the return.

SMALL goes to the charcoal canister.

Thats it.

if you do away with the charcoal canister, you still need a vent line.

You want your feed at the bottom of the cell, because most external fuel pumps are pushers not pullers. This means that you must have good gravity flow to the pump. (I like less than 3ft away from the cell.

I prefer to return through the top so the fuel cell doesn't create a vacuum inside (ever see a crushed poly cell, its probably from returned fuel at the bottom).

If you need a extra bung on your fuel cell, you can get a bulkhead.
