anybody done this before? basically cutting the welds on the inside of the rim moving the center and rewelding it? i know offroad guys have, but is it okay for street use? its on a 92 toyota. i have some 16" steelies but they suck in a bit far. especially since i had to flare my bedsides and fenders to make the 14s that stuck out a bit tuck. damn previous owners. haha. so if anybody has any insight on this, let me know.

Probably not something you'd want to do without some precise tools. Maybe try a wheel shop or something and see what they think of the idea.

personally being in the industry I have never heard of it. you might save hassle and get new steel wheels IMO.

im a bit far from you, but i know there is a shop here that does that, as well as narrowing/widening steel rims. i dont know what they charge for something like that, but ive seen some on a truck they did, and he said they drove perfect (and looked good too)
so yes it can be done. but is it worth the $?

i looked into this for my falcon wagon. there are several off road / rock crawling places that do it. try google. i forgot where i ended up finding it but i do know it was some sort of extreme 4x4 shop. hope that helps.

you can do anything you want to your drivetrain/chassis in offroading, since you are driving in rough terrain and not really fast, you dont notice all the off balance items...

yes it can be done. it depends on the wheel and how it is made and how much you want to move it. this all takes into reference how easy it will be.

i think you can do it, just measure REALLY good and weld it REALLY good

Check with Stockton Wheel for the 411 on changing the offset on steel wheels. I know they change offsets and hoop diamateres/widths on rally wheels for muscle cars and the like. I don't have their web address but i'm sure you can Google it.
