use some bull dog adheasive promoter on the plastic...let it dry. scuff it up a bit. clean with grease and wax remover. mix poly primer and add a cap full of the bull dog promoter to aid in flexability that plastic has. the promoter will allow the primer to move a little big so its not so brittle. without it in the primer the kick panels (for instance) when kicked (accidentally of course...it happens) instead of cracking and peeling off it will bend a little bit without breaking. then block the primer down...mix just poly prime and reshoot how many ever times it takes to fill the texture, cover evenly, and sand all the high spots smooth. try not to sand to hard on the edges.. keep the primer intact on the covered peice. once smooth to your liking, clean again REALLY GOOD with grease and wax remover on a tack rag, spray your base coat and clear coat.

I have been told the plastic will absorb wax and grease remover, is this true? Which could lead to fish eyes and such

i never had a problem with it absorbing the wax and grease remover... never even heard of it doing that before. dont submerge the pastic in it. basically all your putting on it is enough to clean it with a tack rag. you can see it evaporate right after you wipe it over the item.

i wouldnt use that stuff. i believe i got mine from wal-mart of all places when i lived in kentucky. the paint place was out of it when i got all the other materials. its in a medium sized can.. i dont even think i used half of it when i did my whole dash and everything. the bulldog stuff i used was transparent (which is what you want) if your using a grey poly primer, you dont want to be putting in any added color or what ever. but to answer you question, no you dont need the whole kit. just one bottle. it comes in two different type, an spray poof can or i liquid you just pour. if you have a paint gun, just get the liquid kind put some in and spray it like normal. it will come out almost like clear coat only a little stickier and will lay with a little texture. (dont worry about it...after a quick sand and a coat of poly prime, that texture will be no more)
