not sure if this belongs here or the chevy section, if a mod needs to move it, please just let me know.

i am trying to chevy clip my truck but i am not sure what is needed to do the motor. i know i at the least need a new oil pan and pick up tube. can i use the stock balancer, pulley, timing cover and oil pump?

I would the think the balancer and pulley would be fine, but if you change the oil pan then your dipstick through the timing cover may not read correctly. You can always just take the tube off and plug that hole so you can use the timing cover you have. I'm sure the stock oil pump will be fine too, you'll just have to change the pickup tube. You can get the correct pickup tube with most aftermarket pans no problem and the aftermarket pan will probably have a provision for a dipstick through it. The 83 marquis block that is in my truck had the dipstick through the block, but I used my original 77 pan and timing cover so I just plugged the hole in the block and put my pickup tube on the new oil pump.

or just section the chevy crossmember so you dont have to do all that work and keep your stock pan. do you have the rear sump or front sump or double sump?

its a front sump i believe, i dont remember. but steering is behind the x member, so thats my guess. i guess it would be cheaper to section the crossmember than buy parts.

Yea it probably would be cheaper to section it. Your's probably is a front sump, my 77 is. Are you using an S10 like you had talked about or a fullsize front? Make sure you take alot of pics!
