hey guys I just wondered if my idea will work or not I am a fabricator and I was wanting to build air ride brackets for bags to put on the front of my 93 linc mark viii I was thinking of fabbing some brackets made of DOM tubing and plate steel ...well you know how the original strut bag assembly connects to the the lower arm I was thinking of cutting it a little bit above the the mount and extending the rod with DOM tubing and ....on top of the tubing weld a bag plate for the air bag to sit on and the make a bag plate for the top of the bag to bolt to ..and on top of that extend more tubing to the top where the original mount would be and then make shock mounts and bolt up some shocks....

Please let me know what you guys think.

thanks,JV

I'm afraid thatI'm not picking up what you are throwing down.

your car should have the same suspension as the same year t-bird. if that is the case, check out baggedbirds.com.....putting a bag on a tube mounted to your lower control arm will give you problems when it rotates. your bag will fold over. a bag needs to have a solid mounting surface on top and bottom.

I get what you saying. You would think that would work. /but the only differnce between what you described and the stock air strut is the shock shaft up the middle of the bag. without it the unit will be a floopy mess. if you want to runn a bag on the front then you need to come up with something to get it on top of the lower arm, then bracket down to the bag from the strut tower.
with the long lower mount you described there are 2 problems. (1) the is nothing to keep the lower mount from flopping side to side on the lower mounting bolt. (2) assuming to made the lower mount rigid, with the length, as the lower arm moved up the angle would be so drastic becuase of the length of the lower bracket is would hit the inner fender well and the bag plate would be not even close to each other.
baggedbirds is being rebuilt now so hopefully we will have thing back soon
