I want to shave the body line on my dime, but I'm kinda stuck with what to use. I've heard of guys using lead, or body filler to do it. Which way is the best as far as not cracking or shrinking, etc. I live in Canada, so I have to think about the colder weather and the affects it will have on which way I do this. Someone out there must have some advice for me. Thanks for the help guys.

weld it. and yes it sucks. I still have the doors to do. On my 1/4s we hammered the line flat before we put them on but thats not really an option if you arent replacing the panel.

Any less time consuming ideas anyine? LOL Although, I do have a long cold winter to play with the welder. Damn I hate Canada.

Just curious, did you cut a long strip of sheet metal to match the line and then weld it?

I had mine done with evercoat metal to metal filler before. It eventually cracked. grinding it out of the fenders to do it properly sucked. My doors and 1/4s were already junk so I just got new ones.

Yeah I had stips of 16gauge sheared. i think somewhere between 3/8" and 1/2".

Guess I'd better get the welder warmed up then. There's a kid here in my city that did his with regular Evercoat, it sunk within the first two weeks of driving it, and cracked all to hell. sad part is he paid a guy $4500 to do the body and shave his tailgate. Now it looks like he did it himself with play-doh.

it can be done with bondo hair but i always use round rod welded in the bondo hair.

Yeah canadian temperature change doesn't go well with thick bondo. Where I'm at we see extremes of -35 C in winter to +35 C in summer (-31 F to 95 F).
