In the process of laying my 84 c10. What size steering u joints do I need to rebuild the steering shaft so it does not hit the control arms.

all you have to do is make a little notch in the uooer arm so it clears the steering shaft.i did it to my 87'

or use borgeson joints i think i have a pic of my setup under my profile

Unisteer also carries the universal joints... they're polished stainless and less money than Borgeson or Flaming River.

going to be able to run factory steering on my 87. just a notch in the control arm

do like me and chris (tealchevy) suggested its cheaper and allows you to keep your stock steering.
