Just picked up a 93 s10, looking to lay frame on 20s here pretty quickly.. while the truck is going to be off the road i thought drop a 350 in there aswell.. the truck is a 2.5 4cyl with a 5spd tranny.. question is.. will i need a diff tranny to hold up the horsepower? if so which one.. any mods im going to have to do to make the truck lay frame with a bigger motor in there? any info would be great.

Thanks

i have had just about every tranny you can run with a 350 & the only one i have never had any problems with is a th350.

I have done 5 v8 conversions in s-10's, so I hope my info can help, if you are looking for a tranny to bolt up to the 350, there are a few, there is the turbo 350, turbo 400, and 700r4, (all automatic, 3 & 4 speed), to name a few, the tranny you have, the 5 speed won't bolt up, as far as I know. to lay the truck out on 20's, there are a few things you can do, you can get some iroc manifolds, but they are a little bit of a pain, what i find works best is the s-10 v8 conversion header, I like to us headman, just personal preferance. and for the a-arms not to hit the header when layed out, you might wanna look into Air Ride Tech. Upper arms, or Suicide Doors, they miss the header completly. there are a lot of web sites to help you though. Good luck.

t 5-6 is your only option for a 6 speed manual... not hard to find at all, richmond sells one through all the performance dealers....

the 2.5 l trans will not bolt up to a 350... cheapest trans you can get for it would be the th350... but you have alot of options, th350, th400, powerglide, 700r4, 200r4, 4l60e, 4l80e, nv3500, nv4500, the tremec 5 speed and 6 speeds, muncie 4 speeds, lots and lots of trannys!!!

what about my 4.3L in my '96 sonoma? will that tranny/rearend work with the 350 i just picked up? everone i talked to says it will work. but i'm wondering if i should just swap in one of the tranny's described above.

yeah on the 4.3L it has the 700r4 transmission it will bolt right up, as for the rearend it depends how much power you plan on running...

brnkknz--- get a t56 out of a LT1 camaro, that is the only 6speed that will fit a non-LS1 motor. i am going to use the same tranny with a 383ci and s10 V8 swap headers
