why is everyone telling me I should z the frame of my 69 C10 when I bag it and what does this consist off. Won,t it lay frame if i have dropp spindles in the front and cnotch the rear

in most cases the only reason to Z the front frame clip is to raise the crossmember, oil pan, etc to get it to lay flat from front to rear while keeping all the geometry correct up front. i know in my case if i did not z the frame it would lay on the oilpan crossmember before it laid flat anywhere else in the front. im not familiar with your frame or suspension but you could take a few measurements or even eyeball-it to see if its necessary.

the front crossmember hangs below the frame, so, you can either chop up the crossmember, buy the porterbuilt crossmember, or do the easy thing and z it, which is basically cutting infront of the cab, raising the frame up the necessary amount, then welding and plating it back up, then dropping the frame horns back down the same amount to line the frontend back up....

I'm a firm believer in Z'ing. Anytime I bodydrop a truck, it is most important to me that the frame lays level front to rear. I can't think if a vehicle that I haven't had to "Z" it's just that some vehicles need it worse than others.

I know minitruckin just did a writeup on Zing a frame. But someone on here should do one. The minitruckin one was kinda short and needed a little more info for most....

Should do it on a mazda too...lol

minitruckin mag skims the surface on their tech articles just enough to be informative yet at the same time just enough info to get a 16 yr old kid taking shop class in trouble!

Well before you make up your mind read this forumhttp://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/showthread.php?t=201898Sorry, I don't know how to make the link clicky, you'll have to copy and paste. But that thread will give you all the goods and bads of Z'ing and will show you the option mentioned above, the Porterbuilt Dropmember (http://www.porterbuiltstreetrods.com/)Nathan is a great resource for information on these trucks, even if you don't order a Dropmember he's full of knowledge. I suggest the Dropmember, for what you get the price is quite reasonable, it would take less time to do the Dropmember than to do a Z and in the end it's an engineered product that will make your truck lay with just hand tools (100% bolt in, other than tie rod notches). I'm in the middle of getting my truck ready to install my Dropmember now, I'm pulling the motor and trans tomorrow. Well check out the links and talk to the guys on 67-72 forums before you make up your mind. Hope this helps.
