alright so ive ordered my control arms from air ride tech, and figured that since its its gonna have new ball joints and bushings should i go ahead and replace all the inner and outer tierods ends,,keep in mind i did replace them about 4 yrs ago.and also i seem to have alot of play in the sterring .should i buy a steering gearbox also ?. the reason i say this is beacause when i jack up the truck i can move both wheels if i grab the front and the back side of the tire and shake it back and forth with what seems like to much play.ive also put on a new pitman and idler arm when i replaced the tie rod ends..any advice would help out alot or other input

IMO Excess tire wear is from;

1. bad alignment.
2. A good alignment that changes due to worn parts.

Any part of the steering that ties the left and right tires together can cause point 2.

Other parts that can be worn and cause point 2. are
Control arm bushings, ball joints, wheel bearings.

The steering box is NOT a part of this. A loose box will cause "slop" but will not cause excess tire wear as it only turns the two tires together.

I know there's more but just an idea to start with.

Also. when you have an adjustable suspension do not forget that depending on your set up, the alignment can change ALOT with only a small change in ride height.

Example, I aligned (yes I have a crude but very accurate way to align at home!) a monte on air and the toe did not even use the full factory tolerance over 5 inches of travel!

On the other side of this my 95 GMFS will change the toe 1/4 degree in only 1 inch of travel (at ride height).

Hope this helps.
