I've been practicing soldering wires together in preperation of reworking my engine bay and lengthening all my wires and moving stuff around. What in your experiance is the best way?seperating all the wire strands on each pice, intertwining them and twist?Any advise please! and any pics of what the finished result shoud look like would be much appreciated!

Hold the two end to end and heat from the bottom and apply to solder to the top. this tec. gives the strongest bond because it allows the it to flow through rather then just sit on top.

do the hook method. make a small hook with both wires, hook together and twist the two together. Do not twist tight for it will be impossible for the solder to drip thru.

heat from underneath and apply solder to the top of the wires...take away heat whenever the pool soaks thru

alright, I've been doing some trials and the problem I'm having is that the wire doesn't get hot enough to melt the solder when I heat from the bottom. I'm using a 30watt iron on 14 guage wire with 60/40 solder. Any more tips?
I want to make sure I got it down before I start with the truck

best one's are WELLER soldering irons from home depot. Patience is a virtue. My technique is to take the two wires, face em together, and make a bowtie, then apply heat from underneath, solder on top. when the wire gets solid silver at the joint and you can see the grooves in the wires again, you're good

I also heard adding flux helps out too. JIMMY

i use a small handheld butane torch for soldering but if ur in a tight spot them the weller is the best bet....and heat shrink dont waste ur time with tape and zipties...
