How much wrap around would you consider to be enough with regards to mounting a 4 link tab to a rearend housing? The 4 link would only be for locating and the upper tabs would have about 1" from the housing to the bolt hole centre and the lower would be about 5 1/2" from the housing to the bolt hole centre line. The material for the tabs would be .188 mild steel. Would you recomend boxing the backside of the lower tabs in or is it only necessary if there are bags mounted to the lower bars? I know its kind of an odd question but I was just wondering if I was overkill in the way I've done it all these years, thanx for your time.

On the longer lower tabs, it is a good idea to plate the back of them to keep them from bending to the side. The short upper tabs will probably be plenty strong without the plate.

Thanx for the response Max, it is aprreciated. I was also wondering how much contact area would you recommend on the diff housing for the tabs, like as a percentage of the axle tube circumference? Thanx for the help.

I usually try to wrap as far around the housing as I can (within reason.) For higher stressed or longer tabs somewhere near halfway around the housing is good.
