Moser makes then 260 a set. We called made sure they said they had them. maybe a machine shop would have been cheaper. What they charge to cut them and respline?

you cannot respline them you have to cut shafts. The guy did a really slick trick to keep them really strong. when you add shop labor and 250 bucks for shortening the shafts 900 bucks is pretty damn fair

well what did e do? anyting to save money and if there strong sweet even better

You can respline the axle shaft not the housing and yes moser is the best place. I just got done putting 24s on the back of a durango and the rear had to bew narrowed 7 inches on each side. I got the axles from Moser in about a week. Moser could not respline the factory axles due to a weird tapper but this was on a 2000 dont know about a 96. I have found that the safest way to narrow the housing is to slide out the husing shafts from the center chunk, cut them and reinstall.

he lathed one end down and drilled into the other, beveled the edges, welded it up. Then drilled through shaft where the lathed down piece was inside the piece that was drilled, and then put a pin into the hole and welded up. You gotta remember, i had to pull the rear end, the brakes, the gears, then do the fab work, then re install the rear end.

oh well yea definately worth 900, around here they want 800 and thats if you pull it and drop it off so yea thats way fair having to bleed brakes and all that

if your goin with 5x4.5 lug pattern you can find just about anything you want as far as wheels. billet is not the only option but looking for the +45 mm offset might limit you. you can run car wheels like the mustangs, chargers, 300, magnums. just find the ones with a +45 offset or 6.5 inches backspacing. superbuytires.com has a lot you can search but they dont list offset. i use them to find the wheel designs i like then search on ebay for them specifically.

and with all the axle shaft shortening and lug change you might consider just swapping out the axle for a ford ranger or explorers has factory discs sometimes too. then if its still needing shortened, you dont have to get new shafts the fords can be resplined and they are already 5x4.5 lug.
