I got a new project that has a custom made aluminum fuel cell by ekstensive under the bed bolted to the frame... My question is that it does not seem to have a ground strap on it but i have heard that aluminum fuel cells do not need one as long as there bolted to the frame, could someone lend there knowledge on this? i dont want to catch fire while filling it up...

I've got an aluminum cell in my c10 and the only ground strap on it is the one for the fuel level sending unit. No other straps and I had some rubber between the metal and the aluminum and never had an issue in daily driving it for 2 years plus the weekends after that.

aluminum will conduct electricity, so there is probably metal to metal contact from the bolt to the frame..... but ive never heard of a fire from not having a ground strap....

I have mine done same as mentioned above, rubber under the mounts and sending unit wire. havent noticed any problems. and really if you touch any part of the truck before touching where fumes would be present, it will safley discharge any static that may be built up. I usually keep a hand on the bedside or something just incase
