1998 GMC 3500 Diesel questions

What motor came in those, were they reliable, any problems? I have no idea but a guy wants to possibly trade for my Titan so I am askin on here for some input.

6.5 turbo diesel. In most peoples eyes they are a huge pile of crap, but there is a decent following. Check Dieselplace.com, they have forum full of info. Honestly I think they can be decent engines, but nothing more. Most guys that run them know a lot about them because they are always working on them. They have no where near the potential the Duramax has, or the Cummins and Powerchoke for that matter. If it were me I would run away from the deal as fast as you can!

If you just drive it and pull lightly they are pretty dependable. If you are looking to add HP and want to pull large loads then I would recomend something else. I have a couple friends that have em and they love teh truck. They have had to replace the turbos but that's about it.

my boss had one a few years back, it had a chip in it, but it still wouldn't hold a stick compared to diesels today. honestly the 454 would pull better in my opinion.

My opinion is that it's not worth it for your Titan. If it was a 2002 and up Duramax, it would be cool. Run Away From That Deal!!!

do not do it man.... that engine will haunt you the rest of your life!

just buy a duramax and be done with it all!
