Hey guys, I got a 2007.5 Duramax Im getting done up right now. im throughing a Solid axle swap on it and itll be out of the shop in about a month or so. Im wanting to shave a few things. ive always used filler plates and etc.

My thing is I want to use a full tailate skin on my new duramax after its out of the shop. On the full skin do you just remove your old skin and use the door skin tool to put the new one on?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

thanksCody

I plan on doing a full rollpan on it also....

Thanks

Yeah, you got the right idea and it can be done without skin removal tool. R U ordering through Grant or somebody else? Just curious.

I work in a body shop so I have acess to the door skinner, Yes I will be ordering from Grant, thats the only place id order sheet metal... If the new body style truck sheetmetal wasnt so thin and hydro formed it might be easier to work with and not oil can as much hehheehe

I will be posting pictures when its done... Itll have a full 2003+ dodge 9.25" front axle, full custom fourlink and coilovers by Rock Krawler SUspenions and crossover steering. In terms give me about 11" of lift on 37/38's on 20's or 22's for rim....

Unless they have changed, I don't believe Grant skins have the bent over edge like an OEM skin would. I've installed a couple before and they required me to weld on the edge to install.

Na they havn't changed. A Grant skin does not work like a normal door skin. They are made so that you cut your skin off about a 1/4 from around the edges then cut the grant skin to fit in where your old skin was. they work great and when done right you dont use any filler. Here is a pic of a tacoma skin i done with out using any bondo.
