my welder acts as if it doesnt have enough voltage or amperage to lay any kind of decent bead on steal plate when i use it at home so i took it to my welding teacher to troubleshoot the problem...well we plugged it in set it to a round about startign point for 1/4" steal plate and it welded beautifully so i brought it home tonight and im havin the same problem...is there a chance my wall socket doesnt have enough amperage in it? its a brand new miller digital 252. any info would help.

Dude you have this posted in 5 different forums. That is not a good way to get an answer. There is also a specific forum that this topic fits in, which seems to be the one you did not pick.

Anyways, you may not have enough power. If ti welds fine at school, but not when you plug it in at home, something could be wired wrong. Also are you using an extension cord? I know the bigger welders don't really like them. And if you do run them they need to be big. I wouldn't run it off of a dryer outlet. I would run it off of its own 50 amp breaker dedicated to the welder alone.
