brass silencers??

what are they made out of? can i find them at a local store like home depot? I dont want to order something and pay shipping for something that cheap. is it just a mesh brass? or can i make a silencer? i have reducers i just want it to be quiet

You should be able to find them locally. Its isn't really mesh. Its more like a very porous casting of the brass. You can blow throw it relatively easily, but you can't see through it.

I just used bras plugs with a small hole drilled in them. They operate nice and slow and are pretty quiet.

thats the thing, i have reducers like that. I want to SILENCE it. there is a difference between a plug drilled out, and a mesh filter or w/e. can I find a brass filter like that though? i dont want to have to order one

I just used a reducer, from a 1/2" npt, to 1/8" npt....it kinda whistles a bit, but its fairly quiet, and dumps nice and slow. I'd be interested in getting rid of the whistles though.....most tool places I've seen carry the typical silencers shown in the minitruck market.

The plugs made mine pretty quite. I am running ball valves on the back to limit the flow because it was way too fast. I can't actually hear the back, up or down.

You can get them from Fastenal. They may not have them in stock but they can get them. just look through the big ass book and youll see them.
