i just bought a welder its a lincoln sp135t it welds but theres a shit load of slag im used to using my friend big miller 250 or something where there is no slag. but it seems like theres too much its not set up for mig yet but i was looking at the wire that is in there and its .030 and the tip is for .035 then i looked at the label on the spool and it says mig welding wire. i dont really know what im doing but could it have the wrong wire? the wire is sliver color. it can weld a bead just fine but it just doesnt seem right. the thing looks brand new indside and out.

you're welding with what is called flux.. you get a wire wheel for a drill or a hand held wire brush.. brush that shit completely clean.. boom you're done.. flux is made to be used with no gas.

or just go get MIG wire.. it will be a copper color.

Sounds like you need some flux wire. You are welding setup for flux core wire but you dont have any flux if you are using mig wire. Go get some flux core .035 wire and it should do better for you.
