so i am havin no luck findin a tie rod end to go from a ford rack to the toyota drop spindle....does anyone know of one tht works....the other thought i had was runnin a heim joint with a bolt....question are.....i need a 14x1.5 heim, and where can i look to get it...any particular type of heim i should get ie nylon, greasable, etc.....and grade 8 with a nylock nut should be my bolt choice, correct? and does anyone see any issues i may run into....thanks

Could you not get an adapter made that would go from whatever the Ford thread is to the Toyota thread pitch? Or from ford to a standard heim? Just get two machined and use jam nuts.

that was a thought...i have a friend doin all my machining so it is an option...another thought i had was welding a heim in a tube and then tap it to the ford pitch....but do you know of a certain heim i should look for...i know some dont articulate latterally very well....and i saw some that have a spacer in them to allow more side movement

i also found this at speedway...it come sin 7 & 10 degree tapers...do you happen to know the taper of a toyota spindle

tony, i believe i remember max saying that you want to use a teflon heim.

Toyotas are 7 degrees, but I really don't like the idea of that thing. I'd rather see you bore the hole out straight and sleeve it and use a bolt, or get a tapered piece from BLF.

Check out these rod ends.

They are either Kevlar or Tephlon lined. You can get high misalignment spacers for them to increase your travel.

well after some careful measuring the ford rack off my brothers rangerwill not be working....its too long and messes with the geometry of my suspension.....i found out a mustang II rack is 3 inches narrower so i will be going with that and from what i have read they are pinto or thunderbird racks (manual or power respectivley) and they i believe have 7 deg tapers on there endlinks so i may get lucky and just end up using stock end links...but thanks for the info seth....i will definitley check those out if the stock end links dont work
